MNET M! Countdown Experience + Guide

Part of my objective to go Korea is to catch a music show, hopefully can see SNSD live! Mnet M! Countdown is the most open to foreigners as others like Music Bank, Music Core or Inkigayo need to have Korean ID or join fanclubs to get in.

M! Countdown is held every Thursday and we can queue up in the morning to put our name on list to enter the show. I was in Seoul from 1- 12 November. I went at 7am to CJ Media Building to queue on 3 Nov, but unfortunately it was cancel much to my dissapointment.

I have to reorganize my trip plan and decided to go there next Thursday 10 November. I summarize the experience + guide in point form below.

1.    Get to CJ Media Building, queue up outside the building. I was there around 6.45 am.The guard will come around 8am to get your name. I was lucky as the queue is only 30 people as that day was college entrance exam day. Else, by 6am the queue is already far too looong, a French girl who came 4 times  told me this.
2.    After written down your name, you need to come back before 5pm for the guard to confirm your name  is on the list. There were many foreigners there, Japanese girls, Thai girls and HK girls. :D Very international..
3.    I was back around 3.45pm, and there some fans queuing, there is a SNSD fan club fans and going to get autographs from SNSD. I didn’t join as I was not on that list.
4.    Around 4.30pm, I notice some queues forming up for the fanclubs like SNSD and Myname. But that is not my queue yet. However, the fanclubs queue go  in the last.
5.    Close to 5pm, the woman guard came to check those who have put their name on the list this morning. Be sure to comply with her requests. A Japanese girl was kick out because she didn’t know she need to queue in twos. Her name was on the list though.
6.    After queuing in  two’s you will be led to the building and wait outside the studio. You can only go in at 6pm. Outside the studio, you will see a few other queues, not sure from where but they get to go in first.
7.    Once inside, get a good standing area and stand your ground. Many fans will push around cause they too short to see. :p
8.    Don’t take pictures if possible especially SNSD cause they will kick you out. I got kickout for that.. :(

Overall, it was still enjoyable experience, however too much waiting makes me kinda tired and disappointed cause I only wanna watch SNSD and they came out last..hehe.

Direction to CJ Media Building.

1.    Take a subway to Digital Media City. Come out of Exit 2. Opposite is a bus stop and taxi stand.
2.    You can take bus no 7711 to reach the building after 3 stops. Or take a taxi which is about 2400 won. Both take not more than 5 minutes.
3.    You can walk too, but its about 15 minutes.

You can refer this blog for extra information too.

SNSD The Boys Live!! Yoona was missing though.
Waiting for the show to start..
Queuing to put our name on the list at 7am.
SNSD fans queuing for autograph signing. Not sure what time they got there.

Outside the CJ Media Building

Tip: When the guard call the names at 5pm, and you didn't make to the list in the morning, you can try to put your hand up or answered when the guard called a name that nobody answers. Cause some may not return at 5pm to answer their name or they belong to a fan club and decide to going with the fanclubs..hehe. Risky..but can try.
