Its been a very hot CNY. I remember last year there were still rain during CNY but this year is really hot and dry. Wet my pants all the time..hehe.
Anyhow, CNY still pretty much routine, going for a reunion dinner at a restaurant. However, expensive dinner doesn't make much use since it was rush. Can't imagine seeing the 'Lap Mei Fan' arrive when eating shark fins. It was way too fast, forcing us to eat else there isn't place to put other dishes. The orders of dishes were wrong too. In the end, we finished eating in half an hour. Perhaps we were too early. But we stayed there for a while to enjoy the air con. Probably the most important thing this year beside cold drinks.
First day of CNY is the same, go back to granduncle place or shop to be precise for grand lunch. Pretty grand consider about 30 people eating on a table that seats only 8 people the most. We took our turns as usual, but we get to savour all the dishes to offer. Home cook food by heartful relatives beats any dishes at the restaurants anytime. The interesting news was my uncle sold my aunt's pineapple tarts for only RM16 (about40-45 pieces). Very tasty and cheap.
Second day went to my mom's brother house where the other grandma was. A more simple gathering here. But still there is good food available. Today's lunch was rendang ayam with ketupat. Again, tasty and fulfilling.
Somehow CNY consist of two things meeting people you only see once in a year and having lots of food. I guess without CNY maybe not really bother to keep in touch with your relatives, cousins, long lost friends etc etc. Somehow, friends you never bother to message or to give a call, suddenly you decide send them a SMS or wish them Gong Xi Fa Cai. Pretty ironic me thinks..haha.
And those sinful food, after all, nothing much to do that is so enjoying like eating. Me being a person who seldom eat tidbits, still don't really touch those pineapple tarts, ngaku, ba kua, cookies etc etc. I just prefer eat the main food, like sea cucumber, hakka fried pork, duck, chicken, pork's leg and other pork dishes..haha.
