A recollections of encountering strangers and unknown people around town.
This happen before CNY, was having dinner with collegues at Saisaki. As I walked in, noticed a table full of girls(7-8 of them). First glance, already know their not local. Soon, all my collegues are guessing, Koreans? Japanese? Chinese? Actually all also have if I am not mistaken as we can sense all of them speaking English to each other. Guessed they are from a nearby learning English centre. Else, why speak English right? haha...
Moving on this week, I decided to take the public transport since I wanted to go to a few places. Figure its better than paying parking since its a weekday and they count by hour. After finish cancelling my credit card, I went to the Masjid Jamek LRT station to head to Hang Tuah.
Was on the wrong platform when I saw a young Sonija Kwok lookalike. Very slim and pretty figure..hehe. I had to walk down again and cross the road to get back on the correct platform.
While waiting, and standing below the fan since its really hot, a young girl come across and ask me if this is the train to Hang Tuah in English. The magazine she shows me is written in Chinese with only station names in Malay. She spoke English. I just replied yes and informed her I am heading there too.
She's a Taiwanese chiq actually and with a pretty friend with white, fair glassy skin. The friend was using Coach bag and big Gucci sunglasses. Failed to notice the watch brand but quite expensive imo..haha. Guess two friends are here for holidays.
I looked again at the platform label and realized there is only one language. And there is no directory for people to check whether they are at the correct platform. Me myself also made a mistake earlier. Guess we can only see at the counter there. Not so friendly for the tourists imo.
So I got off at the Hang Tuah with the chiqs. Saw the girl took out the mag again. I quickly ask her, 'Ni me yao chu na?'. She pointed Imbi station. I replied 'Shi Thai Guang Chang se ma?" She nodded. I just informed you can take the monorail or walk 300m. No doubt they take the monorail as I figure the other girl would probably melt in the sun. Maybe I should have offered to be a tourist guide since I am so free..hehe.
Again, I noticed signatures were lacking and the way to monorail was just a A4 laminated paper. I also had to ask the counter which platform I need to get on to Bukit Bintang...hehe.
Finished my stuffs and it was raining. No choice but need to just walk back to monorail to go back to the LRT station. As expected, it was crammed and humid even though it was raining.
Taking public transport again, reminds me how much I hate it. The inefficiency, not user friendly (Touch N Go was spoilt at the monrail station :X), and the unpredictable weather, makes me rather just waste petrol and stuck in the road. At least, I have peace and air con. We are still miles away from HKG public transport, where you don't even need to see daylight to reach your destination protecting you from dust, heat and rain.
My greatest respect to all those who brave their life taking the public transport each day. :)
