Economic Naturalist

I am a economics noob, but I found this book during the MPH warehouse in PJ. Got it for RM29. But it is a pretty interesting read, just bought it when I almost left empty handed until I saw the book. Maybe attracted because of the cow picture...hehe. Its sort a noob guide about the world of economics explained to common people.

The contents are pretty interesting as the author explains many of the questions about the world using economics related answers. Althought probably not every answer is really correct, but its fascinating to see how people actually price their goods and why certains items are sold in this way and not that based on economics principle such as supply & demand, oppurtunity cost, cost-benift princple etc. I don't really understand the terms much but is eye-opening to read the answer for questions such as below:

Why did kamizake pilots wear helmets?

Why do people in rural areas marry younger than those living in urban areas?

Why are hotel minibars price so exorbitant?

Why is there a light in your fridge but not in your freezer?

I never thought I would show much interest in economics and other business, financial related info till recently. Maybe cause of the financial crisis surrounding us, just waiting to know which next big compan is going bankcrupt. Sometimes, I do wish I took up economics instead of engineering..hehe. Probably will be same color of grass anyway. :p
