Day 1: 24-Hour Marathon Macau-Hong Kong

Disclaimer: Super long post ahead. Pictures are from various cameras. I didn't really take much pictures because I am dissapointed with my camera or perhaps my skill. ;)

The day begins on 3am 24th Aug, Sunday. Woke up and waited for my collegue to fetch me to his place to take airport taxi. The Waja Taxi was superfast, reach LCCT in about 30 minutes from Pandan Perdana.

Check in around 5.30 am and departed at 6.30am. LCCT was like pasar malam, full of people as usual. Reached Macau about 10.15am. Checked out and straightaway headed for the Ferry Terminal to Hong Kong. We dumped our luggage to 3 of our collegues who are not going over for them to check in to the hotel. So 19 of us boarded the 12pm catamaran to Hong Kong. It was an hour journey and everyone was dozing off within minutes on board the ship.

One of the many catamarans available. Comfortable ride unless got big wave. HKD 80 promotional price.

On the way to Hong Kong. Luckily it was a sunny day.

We reached Hong Kong Terminal at 1pm and met up with our HKG collegues, 3 pretty lass. Took MTR from Sheung Wan to Times Square at 'Tung Luo Wan' for our dim sum lunch. The MTR service was efficient and fast, there was cold air blowing when the train move since it was drawing air from outside. Not suffocating like Malaysia LRT..

Outisde Hong Kong Times Square, I learn in Cantonese is called 'Si Toi Kong Cheong'..hehe.

Reached the Dim Sum restaurant at 2pm but only get to eat 3pm because need to wait for table.
But the food was worth it, can't say the best in the world but taste different from Malaysia. The tea has a nice aroma too. Although not sure its because we didn't eat anything for 8 hours. It cost us HKG 1000 per table leh.

Our Dim Sum spread which was gobbled up by us guys in matter of minutes. Our table also includes a LCD TV which allow us to watch Olympics.

After makan, only 4pm. So we walked around Times Square. Then we got bored, so walked outside Times Square. We can only see 'people mountain, people sea'. Everywhere also got people moving towards us.

On the beat at Times Square!

The women are having a good time looking around and shopping. The men already complaining of leg pain by 6pm. But we are done yet of course. Time to take MTR again to MongKok. This time to check out 'Lui Yan Kai'. Behind 'Lui Yan Kai' is 'Bo Hai Kai' consists of many shops selling sport shoes.

Outside Mongkok MTR Station. Our MTR fares probably totalled about HKD 50.

After one 'pigeon round', the men looked for place to sit and yam cha. We headed for 'Hui Lau San', HKG popular dessert shop I guess. Main theme seems to be mango as most of their items have mango. Lots of people, each item cost at least HKD 20.

Lui Yan Kai, again people everywhere!!!!

Inside 'Hui Lau San', good place to wind down after such a long walk and to enjoy the cold dessert there.

Around 7.15pm, time to take MTR again and need to transit at Kam Chung (Admiralty). From there we go to Tsim Tsa Tsui to see Hong Kong night view at Avenue of Stars. You can find many handprints of the famouse HK stars on the walkway. Opposite the walk is Hong Kong skyscrapers and high rise buildings facing us. You need to see for yourself to truly admire the breathtaking night view.

Superb night view across the water. Too bad don't have DSLR with tripod.

We left around close to 9pm I believed. Again took the MTR back to Mong Kok. Just have a simple dinner in one of those typical HKG shop nearby Nathan Road. Served the usual Chinese Tea. The Wan Tan Mee really got 5 big Wan Tans inside with prawns..hehe.

At 10.30pm, we took MTR again to Chung Wan (Central). Walked over to Lan Kwai Fong just to look look see see. Not many people around, mostly 'gwai lous'. I guess all the HKG leng luis stayed at home to watch Olympic Closing Ceremony. After all is a Sunday also. By this time, a few guys already leg pain and some 'pai kiok' liao.

Walking up to Lan Kwai Fong, Hong Kong happening night life

11.30pm, took MTR back to Sheung Wan to board catamaran back to Macau. Meh, the ship was delayed for more than 15 minutes and we got on at 12.20am or so. We dozed off as soon as we sat on the ship. By the time we reached hotel it was nearly 2am.

Slept around 3am cause wanted to finish watching Shaolin Soccer..hehehe. Was hoping to catch Olympic Ceremony highlights but couldn't find any. I only been up for 24 hours but some of them more didn't even sleep on Saturday night.
