assume means
• verb 1 accept as true without proof. 2 take (responsibility or control). 3 begin to have (a quality, appearance, or extent). 4 pretend to have; adopt falsely.
My first boss told me never to assume anything in work. Always double check, ask again to confirm. Never assume!! It was a good lesson I will always remember, because when you assume, 99% of the time you are wrong. It is most likely you will make a mistake in your judgement and get a good scolding from your boss.
My second boss, not really my boss though, but he is a sales manager and he taught his sales guys never to assume. One of them assume something in his work and was taught a good lesson.
For this boss, assume means ' Make an ass of u and me'. He is so right.
If you break down the word, assume = ass + u + me ..lol.
Anyhow, I find a lot of people nowadays like to make assumption in many things. They like to make assumptions without asking properly in the first place, without checking and without gathering proof if its true. Its disasterous if you do that in your work, downright annoying if people do that to your life and equally damaging to people's reputation.
So never assume, for you are making a mistake! Heh.
