D-Day

Actually the D-Day has passed at the time of posting. But whatever, for the sake of blogging.

The best part about this job is that its has a lot nice perks which are obtained unofficially. Yes, it is mostly has to do with personal stuff.

1. Go work late, go home early. Usually only go to work around 8.30 or 9. And always try to arrange to go to customer place after lunch time so that can cabut early from work.

2. Go to any FF nearby. Get a FF passport and no matter where you are in Klang Valley, you can go to any branch after finishing the job. If in PJ go to Menara Axis at PJ, if in Uptown Damansara, go to the Uptown one, if in Bukit Damansara, go to Menara Manulife or if in KL, can go to Menara Axis or Wisma SPK. So at 5pm you will be at the gym, where most people are still working. :P

3. Visit friends for lunch. Find leng lui, friends, ex-collegues or classmates for lunch in any part of Klang Valley. Although to be honest, 60% of the time, I ate alone..haha.

4. Eat breakfast or lunch at any part of Klang Valley, Klang or SS3 Bak Kut Teh, SS2 hawker centre, Segambut Seafood Mee, Kin Kin Spicy Pan Mee, Yong Tau Foo at Mines, Connaught Duck Rice, Imbi Pasar Hainamese Roti and Tea etc. etc. Ah…endless choice

5. Doing personal stuff during office hours, shopping, banking, job interviews..muahaha. Just arrange time properly and write a good report.

6. Having a good relationship with the customers, means they will belanja you minum teh, nasi lemak, give you some company souvenirs or gets you a discount for their stuffs.

7. Glimpse around for leng luis at customer place. This is quite rare though since most customers are either ‘wan tans’ or not much chance to wander around.

8. Unexpected happenings when going outstation or oversea for work and training. For example, seeing fireworks while in A Famosa Resort, side trip to visit friend’s hometown in Teluk Intan, invited for colleagues wedding dinner in Singapore or nice dinner/show in Bangkok training.

Of course with these nice perks, there are also some sacrifices and hard work that had been made. I will not mention much but just a few like installing UPS and battery which weighs like 100kg, working from 6pm to 3am, or running up and down between floors for a few days. All these only serves to toughen me up and provide the ability to face everyday challenges.

Too bad, the D-Day has already come and its time to go for a new way of work. Hopefully, the middle ground is coming and a balance is found. This old job ain’t bad at all and I am going to miss it.
